Lee Alexander McQueen.

Yesterday the world was shocked and saddened by the death of British fashion designer and icon, Alexander McQueen.

I find it to be a really odd feeling when someone you don't know personally dies and still it evokes a lot of emotion. I don't want to say too much on the subject.

Have a look at the Matches blog and Colin McDowell's blog which both have lovely words celebrating his career.

On a less positive note, Toby Young, who seems to have less morals than an ally cat, wrote a vile attention grabbing piece for the Telegraph blog which shows a massive lack of respect for Alexander McQueen and his family during this painful time.

It really annoys me when people like him get on their high horse about the fashion industry and say stupid arse things like "I’m always skeptical when the word “genius” is bandied about by the fashionista — more or less everything is “genius” in their world, as in, “Love that belt, darling. It’s genius.” It really shows a lack of respect for all those, like me, who work so hard in this industry.

As we wait to see what will happen with the forthcoming show and the Mcqueen label, my thoughts are entirely with his family and friends.
